WahlheYmat Talks – “The Right to Have Rights”

Film Screening and Audience Discussion

📅 10 February, 5:30 PM
📍 Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek, Pop-Up Saal

WahlheYmat and moveGLOBAL e.V. warmly invite you to the screening of the short film “The Right to Have Rights.”

The film encourages reflection on the meaning of citizenship, statelessness, and life with a temporary suspension of deportation (Duldung). It portrays the struggles of refugees and non-refugee migrants, BPoC, and/or Romnja and Sintizze in their fight for equal rights in Germany, and asks how we can work together toward a society in which the right to have rights applies without restriction.

The film was created as part of the campaign “Pass(t) uns allen” by With Wings and Roots e.V. and RomaniPhen e.V.

Following the screening, an open audience discussion will take place in the well-established WahlheYmat format, featuring some of the film’s protagonists as well as other inspiring guests.

Come along — let’s talk together about participation, belonging, and the right to have rights!

This event is organized in cooperation with moveGLOBAL e.V. and takes place as part of the project “Empowering Migrant Voices for Local Integration and Inclusion.”

🌍 How does the future of democracy look?

📅 12 November, 17:30
📍 Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek, PopUp Saal

What can Berlin learn from other places?
How can we involve citizens, innovate democratic practices, and make information more accessible so everyone can participate and truly understand how our society works?

Or, very simply: how to berlin?

💬 Join us for the next edition of WahlheYmat Talks, where we’ll explore these questions together.

We’re excited to welcome two inspiring guests:

Rose Longhurst, who once moved to Berlin to lead the Democratic Renewal Team of the Open Society Foundations Europe Program

✨ Janek Gulbis, from Liquid Democracy.

🎙 Moderation: Marta Orosz (ZDF).

Our discussions are always interactive — we encourage everyone to share ideas and experiences from other places that could inspire new ways of living democracy in Berlin.

This edition of WahlheYmat Talks – Future of Democracy is part of Berlin Freedom Week, organized by VisitBerlin,
in cooperation with Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin (ZLB).
